CBT School FALL 2018 Class Schedule 

CHILDREN’S DIVISON

Students ages 3-18, with minimum attendance requirements. All students are welcome. Those who wish a more leisurely schedule, please see OPEN DIVISION classes.

POINTE CLASSES

Pointe classes are enrichment classes, not “core curriculum” classes. Because of the strenuous nature of pointe work, this study requires a minimum of 3 ballet technique classes per week for a student to qualify. Your child’s teacher will make a recommendation when the student is ready to begin pointe study.

Pre-Pointe Class (Age 9 & up)
Thursday 6 – 6:45 (M. Addlesberger, Studio F)
A class specially designed to strengthen & prepare young students for pointe work, w/pointe barre exercises, center & corner work.

Elementary Pointe Class (Approx. age 10 & up)
Sat 1:45-2:30 (L. Reid, Studio N)
Basic pointe work to build strength; barre exercises, center & corner work. Basic steps such as bourees and pas de gavotte, echappe’s, piques, tours chaines.

*Elementary Pointe Drill (Approx. age 12 & up)
Thursday 6 – 6:45 (M. Addlesberger, Studio F)
A vigorous elementary pointe workout to increase strength and endurance. Basic pointe work to build strength; barre exercises, center & corner work. Basic steps such as bourees and pas de gavotte, echappe’s & piques.
*Also beneficial for Intermediate Pointe students.

Intermediate Pointe Class (Approx. age 12 & up)
Tue 7:05-7:50 (L. Reid, Studio N)
Mastery of pointe vocabulary, emphasizing ease of motion, and incorporating advanced turns and pirouettes into the pointe technique.

Detailed study of six dances from the Classical Repertoire, performed by students of this class at the End-of-School-Year Performances (Sat, JUN 15, 2019).

BALLET CLASSES for CHILDREN

Creative Movement (age 3; 1×45-min class/week)
Sat 9:30-10:15 (M. Addlesberger, Studio F)
An introduction for small children into the world of a dancer. Class limited to 8 children. The children have an In-Studio Cupcake Party & Performance for family & friends on Sat, JUN 8, 2019 with a special ballet-related gift for each student. Each student will receive 1 child and 1 Adult ticket to the CBT School Matinee performance of Midsummer Nights Dream & Other Dances being held on June 15, 2019

Pre-School 1 (PS1) (age 4-5; 1×45-min class/week)

A ballet-based creative movement class for the very young student. Group limited to 8 children. The students may participate in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream & Other Dances”, Sat, JUN 15, 2019, at the Capitol Theatre.

A preparatory class for beginning children, including ballet barre, gentle stretching, center and corner practice, development of graceful arm movement. The students may participate in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream & Other Dances”, Sat, JUN 15, 2019, at the Capitol Theatre.

Preparatory 2 (Prep 2) (ages 6-8, 2×60-min class/week)

Elementary Ballet 3 (EB3A , EB3B) (approx. ages 8-12 + Pre-Pointes if applicable, 2×75-min class & 1×60-min class hour/week)

A mid-level elementary ballet class for children, with emphasis on furthering ballet vocabulary, with barre exercises, stretching, center and corner practice.
The students may participate in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream & Other Dances”, Sat, JUN 15, 2019, at the Capitol Theatre, AND may audition to perform in the“Nutcracker”, with an option to become a trainee or Junior Dancer in the 2018/19 performance season.
A weekly class for performance season students meets Sat 2:45-3:45 (M. Addlesberger, Studio F).

The students may participate in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream & Other Dances”, Sat, JUN 15, 2019, at the Capitol Theatre, AND may audition to perform in the“Nutcracker”, with an option to become a trainee or Junior Dancer in the 2018/19 performance season.
A weekly class for performance season students meets Sat 2:45-3:45 (M. Addlesberger, Studio F).

NOTE: All Intermediate & Advanced Levels below cover the 8 positions of the body, epaulement, adage, pirouettes endehors and endedans, petit and grand allegro, pointes, with IB2 & up variations and partnering (when feasible), progressing technically and artistically as students are ready. CBT School prides itself on the quality of individual attention given to all students by our professionally trained staff.

JAZZ CLASSES

Kidz Jazz (Ages 6-12)
Mon 5:45-6:30 (A. Chestnut, Studio N)
Jazz technique and fundamentals in an age-appropriate class, specially designed for younger students.
NOTE: Students are required to take at least one ballet class per week for technical strength (SEE RECREATIONAL BALLET for Jazz Students). The CBT School Jazz Students will perform in the End-of-School-Year Performances on Sat, JUN 15,2019 at the Capitol Theatre.

Teen & College Jazz (Ages 13-21)

Different jazz styles, including Traditional, Commercial/Pop, and Broadway Jazz are covered in this fastpaced progressive technique class.
NOTE: Students are required to take at least one ballet class per week for technical strength (SEE RECREATIONAL BALLET for Jazz Students). The CBT School Jazz Students will perform in the End-of-School-Year Performances on Sat, JUN 15,2019 at the Capitol Theatre.

BALLET CLASSES FOR TEENS & ADULTS

Beginning/Basic Ballet

An excellent class to learn basic ballet fundamentals, starting with the five positions of the feet and the arms, simple barre exercises, gentle stretching, introduction to pirouettes, plus center and corner work, including jumps and turns.
The students are welcome to participate in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream & Other Dances”, Sat, JUN 15,2019 at the Capitol Theatre.

Basic Intermediate Ballet
Thu 5:45-7:00 (L. Reid, Studio F)
Furthering the fundamentals of ballet, teaching the 8 positions of the body and use of epaulement, pirouettes and various turns, petit and grand allegro.
The students are welcome to participate in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream & Other Dances”, Sat, JUN 15,2019 at the Capitol Theatre.

Intermediate Ballet

Furthering the technique and artistry of ballet practice, with more advanced barre work, epaulement, stretching techniques, center and corner work, more intricate combinations in adagio work, pirouettes, petit and grand allegro.
*Pointe work available – speak to CBT School Director, Lavinia Reid.
The students may participate in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream & Other Dances”, Sat, JUN 15,2019 at the Capitol Theatre. Students may also audition to be a “Guest Dancer” in the “Nutcracker”, with the option to join the Chambersburg Ballet for its entire 2018-2019 Performance Season.

Men’s & Boy’s Class
Wednesday 6:15-7:15 A ballet technique class especially designed for men and boys, with emphasis on jumps and turns. Students are eligible to participate in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream & Other Dances” performances on June 15, 2019 at the Capitol Theatre, and may also audition in September to be a “Guest Dancer” in “Nutcracker” with the option to join the Chambersburg Ballet for its entire 2018-2019 Performance Season.

SNOW DAYS are to be made up at the discretion of the parent or adult student – consult with the CBT School Director. A determination is made by 9:30 on Saturday mornings, and by 3:00 p.m. on School Days. Check CBT’s Facebook Page, and/or call the CBT School Phone for a “SNOW DAY” determination.
